Thank you Nottingham Post!

Two weeks ago I was featured in the local paper here in Nottingham, and I now have a new appreciation for anyone who has a constant camera in their face! Features editor Riah Matthews contacted me via email on my last day of holiday in the US and I nearly fell over when I read it. My parents looked perplexed as to why the local newspaper would be interviewing me about my blog and my dad even asked ‘Is that a good thing’? Umm yeah dad kinda! lol

Of course once the initial excitement and bewilderment wore off I started to panic; about the state of my house, about getting a huge spot on my nose the day before the photo shoot, about sounding like an idiot during the interview, and about thinking I hallucinated the entire email. However I needn’t have worried, when Riah and Sean the photographer turned up on my doorstep they put me at ease and gazed in amazement at all my crap beauty stuff on the dining room table. Sean happily snapped away while I channeled my inner Carrie Bradshaw, and trying to remember all the photo shoot advice Tyra Banks had dished out on America’s Next Top Model.

The day the paper came out I bought several copies, and held my breath as I looked inside. The lovely owner of Bobby’s Off License on Berridge Road humoured me as I told him all about beauty blogging and why moi was in the paper. He seemed pretty happy to speak to me rather than his usual customers who buy a few cans of Special Brew at 8 in the morning. I was relieved when I saw just one photo of myself and was super pleased that my skin held up it’s end of the bargain by not breaking out. So all in all a good experience, but I can now understand why celebs wear dark glasses and baseball hats when they get off a plane!
